Fatal Multi-Vehicle Accident Reported on NE Pine Island Rd. in North Fort Myers, Florida

NORTH FORT MYERS, FL. – According to a news story published online at, a fatal multi-vehicle accident was reported to have happened on NE Pine Island Road in North Fort Myers, Florida. Little information about the collision had been released at the time, and local authorities are still in the process of investigating to determine what occurred.* 

The accident happened during the late morning or early afternoon by the intersection with Barrett Road on NE Pine Island Road. Numerous emergency and law enforcement agencies were dispatched to the scene on a reported multi-vehicle wreck involving injuries. Florida Highway Patrol, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, and the Cape Coral Police Department went to the scene. 

Authorities arrived to find that five vehicles had somehow been involved in an accident at this area of the roadway. The makes and models of the vehicles were not reported, and no vehicle descriptions were included in the news report. It is not clear from the news report how the vehicles ended up colliding or what circumstances caused them to collide. 

Wink reports that one person was confirmed to have tragically died in the accident. No identifying information on the victim was reported in the news story. It is unclear if the victim was driving one of the vehicles involved in the wreck or if he or she had been a passenger. 

No other injuries were listed in the news report. The total number of persons involved in the accident is not known.

The collision caused NE Pine Island Road to shut down for several hours, as crews worked at the scene and performed investigation. It is unclear what time the roadway reopened. Investigation into the accident is ongoing, though the report does not say which agency will be managing the investigation. No additional information was reported in the story.
