CLAY COUNTY, FL. – According to an online news report posted at firstcoastnews.com, a vehicle fatally hit a moped rider and then left the scene on Sandridge Road in Clay County, Florida. Authorities have classified the case as a hit-and-run and are asking for the public to call them with any information that could lead to an arrest.*
The accident occurred during the overnight hours on the stretch of Sandridge Road by U.S. Highway 17 and Village Square Boulevard. Florida Highway Patrol and First Coast News report that at about 2:30 a.m., emergency crews went to the scene on a call about a traffic accident.
Authorities arrived to find that a vehicle had apparently struck a moped. Preliminary investigation at the scene caused authorities to believe that the vehicle hit the moped from behind, based on damage to the moped. The model of moped was a Suzuki.
