Two Injured in Vehicle Wreck on S.R. 297 in Pensacola, Florida

PENSACOLA, FL. – According to an online news story reported at, two people were injured in a vehicle wreck that happened on State Road 297 in Pensacola, Florida. Florida Highway Patrol is handling the investigation and says that the collision was preceded by a driver failing to stop at a red light. The accident turned into a hit-and-run collision, and authorities are still pursuing the suspects who were involved.*

The accident happened during the morning on State Road 297, by Wilde Lake Boulevard. Florida Highway Patrol and NWF Daily News report that a 2016 Chrysler 200 was traveling in the area, when the driver ran a red light. The Chrysler then ended up crashing into a 2012 Jeep Liberty that was also traveling in the area. It is not clear what direction each of the vehicles was traveling prior to the crash

After the collision, the Jeep reportedly overturned, and the occupants of the Chrysler got out of the vehicle and ran away from the scene on foot. It is not clear what caused the driver of the Chrysler to run the light or why the driver and a second person in the vehicle fled from the site. 

NWF Daily News reports that two people were riding inside of the Jeep, and both sustained injuries in the wreck. Emergency responders took the two people to Sacred Heart Hospital for treatment. The extent of their injuries is not clear, and neither person was identified in the news report. 

The two suspects from the Chrysler were also not identified. At the time of the NWF Daily News report’s publishing online, no arrests had been made. Florida Highway Patrol Troopers are asking members of the public to contact them with any potentially helpful information about the two suspects. Investigators can be reached at (850) 484-5000.
