Man Tragically Dies After Vehicle Crash on I-75 in Marietta, Georgia

MARIETTA, GA. – According to an online news report posted at, a man has tragically died after a vehicle crash that took place in late July. The man had been hospitalized since the accident, and authorities say a driver involved in the crash has now been charged with homicide by vehicle.* 

The accident happened at the entrance ramp to I-75 South from Canton Road Connector. The Marietta Police Department and 11 Alive report that a 1994 Ford F-150 was stopped in the gore with a 2000 Chevrolet Silverado pulling a trailer in front of it. The report says the Ford was being loaded onto the trailer attached to the Chevy.

At the same time, a 2016 Hyundai Sonata was traveling on the Canton Road Connector, and the driver started passing slower traffic. The Hyundai driver then moved into the gore where the Ford was being loaded and crashed into the back of the Ford. 

During the impact, a man who was navigating the Ford onto the trailer was thrown from the vehicle, and another man who had been preparing to winch the Ford onto the trailer was struck by the Ford. The Hyundai rotated after the impact and collided with a 2015 BMW 428i. 

11 Alive states that both of the men working on the Ford were seriously injured. The men were described as brothers, ages 60 and 64. 11 Alive reports that both were taken to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital, where the 64-year-old man tragically died from his injuries close to two weeks after the accident. 

The Hyundai driver was also taken to Wellstar Kennetone for treatment of injuries, after which he was placed under arrest. 11 Alive reports he has been charged with a number of crimes, including first-degree vehicular homicide, serious injury by vehicle, improper passing, and improper lane change.
