Injuries Reported After Vehicle Crash on Hwy 70 in Cumberland County, Tennessee

CUMBERLAND COUNTY, TN. – According to a news report posted online at, injuries were reported after a vehicle crash that took place on Highway 70 in Cumberland County, Tennessee. Tennessee Highway Patrol is leading the investigation and reports that both of the drivers were charged in connection with the wreck.*

The accident happened near the racetrack off of Highway 70. Tennessee Highway Patrol and 1057 News report that a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado was turning onto the northbound side of the highway from the racetrack and collided with a 2005 Nissan Altima. The report says that the Nissan was oncoming, but it is not clear what direction it was traveling prior to the accident.

After impact, both vehicles ran down an embankment before coming to a stop. The extent of damage to the vehicles was not reported. Troopers did not provide information about what circumstances might have contributed to the crash but believed after investigation at the scene that the driver of the Chevy had failed to yield the right-of-way to the Nissan. 

1057 News reports that the driver of the Nissan was injured in the accident. He was identified as a 27-year-old man from Crossville, Tennessee. The news report further states that the driver of the Chevy was also injured in the wreck. He was identified as an 82-year-old man from Crossville. It is not clear from the news report how seriously either man was injured or whether either man was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

1057 News states that Tennessee Highway Patrol charged the driver of the Chevy with failure to yield in connection with the wreck. Troopers also reportedly charged the driver of the Nissan for driving without a license or insurance. No further information about the accident or the investigation was included in the report from 1057 News.
