South Carolina Man Seriously Injured in New York Pedestrian Accident
UTICA, NY. – According to an online news report posted at wktv.com, a South Carolina man was seriously injured in a pedestrian accident that happened in New York. The accident resulted in a driver from Utica, New York, being placed under arrest and charged with multiple crimes, according to the news report.*
The accident occurred during the late evening on State Road 8 in the town of Columbus. New York State Police and WKTV report that police were called to the scene of a pedestrian accident on State Road 8 at around 9 p.m. The specific location of the accident was not included in the report, so it is not clear where on the highway it happened. Officers arrived to find an unresponsive male in the shoulder of the roadway, the report says.

State Police responding to the scene reportedly developed reason to believe that he was intoxicated at the time, and they placed him under arrest. WKTV reports he has been charged with driving while impaired with a child and second-degree vehicular assault. The report says the man had an 8-year-old passenger and a 4-year-old passenger at the time of the accident.
