Vehicle Collision on U.S. 192 in Kissimmee, Florida, Tragically Kills Pedestrian

KISSIMMEE, FL. – According to an online news report posted at, a vehicle collision that occurred on U.S. 192 in Kissimmee, Florida, tragically killed a pedestrian. Little information about the victim and the accident has been released at this time, and Florida Highway Patrol is still investigating.* 

The collision took place in the late evening hours, close to Old Town Boulevard on U.S. 192. Florida Highway Patrol and the Orlando Sentinel report that at about 10:30 p.m., a pedestrian was hit by a vehicle while trying to walk across the highway. The vehicle involved was a 2003 Nissan Sentra, and it had been traveling eastbound on U.S. 192 when the accident happened. 

Florida Highway Patrol Lt. Kim Montes said that the front of the Nissan hit the pedestrian, and the driver remained at the scene. Montes said the pedestrian was not inside of a crosswalk but did not say if a crosswalk was available at the intersection with Old Town Boulevard. Montes also reported that the driver of the Nissan said he was not able to see the pedestrian before the accident took place. 

The Orlando Sentinel reports that the pedestrian tragically died at the scene. The victim is reportedly 23 years of age and lived in Kissimmee, but no additional information about him or her was provided. Next-of-kin had not been notified as of the time of the report, Troopers said. 

The driver of the Nissan was identified as a 23-year-old man from Kissimmee. The report says he was not injured in the collision. It does not say if he was alone in the Nissan at the time of the collision. 

Florida Highway Patrol is continuing to investigate the accident, and no further information about the investigation had been released at the time of publishing for the Orlando Sentinel news report.
