Sheriff’s Office Investigating Deadly Hit-and-Run on N. Forbes Rd. in Plant City, Florida

PLANT CITY, FL. – According to an online news story reported at, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a deadly hit-and-run accident that happened on North Forbes Road in Plant City, Florida. The accident resulted in the tragic death of a pedestrian, according to the report.* 

The accident happened late in the evening on the northbound side of North Forbes Road. The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office and ABC report that at approximately 11 p.m., a pedestrian was walking on the east side of the roadway in the southbound direction. Deputies say the pedestrian was then hit by a vehicle that had been traveling northbound on North Forbes Road. 

Following the accident, the driver of the vehicle fled. It is not clear what circumstances led to the collision or in what way the accident occurred. The report does not provide an intersection or business name near the site of the accident, so it is not clear where the collision took place. 

ABC reports that the pedestrian was tragically killed in the collision. He was identified as a 63-year-old man. No other identifying information on the victim was included in the news report. 

Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident and are searching for the person who hit the victim and left the scene. Witnesses reportedly told deputies that they saw a pickup truck or an SUV leaving the scene. The vehicle was dark in color, they said. However, investigators are not certain that this was the vehicle involved. They would like to find the driver of this vehicle to learn more. 

The investigation is ongoing, and deputies are working to review surveillance images from the surrounding area and analyze information gathered at the scene. Deputies are also asking for anyone with information to call the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office at (813) 247-8200.
