Woman Tragically Killed in Car Wreck on Jog Rd. in Palm Beach County, Florida

PALM BEACH COUNTY, FL. – According to a news report published online at, a woman was tragically killed in a car wreck that happened on Jog Road in Palm Beach County, Florida. Authorities are still investigating the accident, which only involved the victim’s vehicle, the report says.* 

The accident happened in the afternoon in the West Boynton area at the intersection of Flavor Pict Road and Jog Road. The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office and the Sun Sentinel report that at about 12:45 p.m., a Volkswagen Jetta was traveling southbound on Jog Road and came to the intersection with Flavor Pict. Deputies say that when the vehicle was crossing over Flavor Pict, it ran up over a curb.

The Volkswagen then crashed into a chain link fence, the report says, and came to a stop inside a body of water. Authorities said that the vehicle was discovered at the scene in a retention pond. It is not clear at this time what caused the accident. It appears the driver might have lost control, but this information has not been confirmed, and no other potential factors have been reported. 

The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office and Palm Beach County Fire Rescue responded to the scene, and firefighters reportedly freed the driver from the vehicle. The Sun Sentinel reports that emergency crews then took the driver to Delray Community Hospital, where she tragically died. She was identified as a 93-year-old woman. It does not appear anyone else was in the car.

The news report says that the victim was a mother of three sons, grandmother of two, and had recently become a great grandmother. She was married to her late husband for 63 years, according to the woman’s son. 

The sheriff’s office is still investigating the accident, and no additional information was included in the report.
