Fatal Single-Vehicle Wreck Reported on Hawkinsville Rd. in Bibb County, Georgia

BIBB COUNTY, GA. – According to an online news report posted at, a fatal single-vehicle accident was reported as occurring on Hawkinsville Road in Bibb County, Georgia. The Telegraph reports that a woman tragically died in the collision, and the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office has opened an investigation.* 

The accident happened in the late afternoon near the Houston Road exit ramp on Hawkinsville Road. The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office and The Telegraph report that at about 4:30 p.m., a vehicle was traveling in the far right lane of the roadway and somehow veered into the left lane. The vehicle then began rolling, deputies say, before coming to a stop. A photo taken at the scene and posted on the website for The Telegraph shows the vehicle lying on its roof in the roadway. 

It is not clear what caused the vehicle to leave its lane of travel and crash. The vehicle was described as a 2001 Honda Civic. It does not appear that any other vehicles were involved in the accident. Authorities responding to the scene did not immediately have information on the events that might have led to the collision. 

The Telegraph reports that the driver of the Honda was tragically killed in the accident. She was identified by the Bibb County Coroner’s Office as a 34-year-old woman. The victim’s city of residence was not included in the news report. The Telegraph stated that the woman was the only person riding in the vehicle at the time that the accident happened. 

No further information about the crash has been released at this time. The Bibb County Sheriff’s office is handling the investigation, which is still in its preliminary stages. Deputies ask that anyone who might have information concerning the accident contact traffic fatality investigators at the sheriff’s office by calling (478) 751-7500.
