August 14, 2019

MADISON COUNTY, FL. – According to a news report posted online at, a man was tragically killed in a vehicle wreck that happened on Interstate 10 in Madison County, Florida. From preliminary investigation, authorities believe that the accident was preceded by a tire failure on the roadway.*

The accident occurred in the early afternoon on the westbound side of Interstate 10. Florida Highway Patrol and WCTV report that around noon, a Ford F-150 was traveling west on the interstate and experienced a tire failure near mile marker 260. It is not clear at this time what led to the tire failure. The news report did not say if something was in the roadway and caused the blown tire or an issue with the tire led to the incident.

Following the tire failure, Troopers say the Ford traveled off the road and went into the grassy median, where it overturned. The vehicle came to a rest with part of it inside the eastbound lane of the interstate. It does not appear that any other vehicles became involved in the collision.

WCTV reports that a passenger in the Ford pickup truck was ejected during the collision, and he was taken to Madison County Memorial Hospital, where he tragically died. Officials identified him as a 59-year-old man. His city of residence was not included in the report.

WCTV further reports that the driver of the Ford was injured in the accident. The driver was not identified in the news report, and the extent of his or her injuries was not clear. It does not appear that any other passengers were in the truck when the accident occurred.

Florida Highway Patrol Troopers are investigating the collision, and at the time that the report from WCTV was posted online, no further information had been released to the media.
