Five Injured in Two-Vehicle Accident on Alligator Alley in Broward County, Florida

BROWARD COUNTY, FL. – According to a news report posted online at, five people were injured in a crash involving two vehicles that occurred on Alligator Alley in Broward County, Florida. A 19-year-old woman and two children were among those injured in the accident, according to the report.*

The accident reportedly occurred at mile marker 51 on Interstate 75 North, also known as Alligator Alley. The news report described the vehicles as an SUV and a second vehicle. It is not clear how the vehicles collided, but the report says that one of the vehicles rolled over after impact. A photo from the scene that was posted to the Sun Sentinel website shows that the vehicle that rolled was a Land Rover LR4. It is pictured lying on its driver’s side. 

The Sun Sentinel says that a 19-year-old woman who had been riding in the Land Rover SUV was injured and airlifted from the scene to Broward Health Medical Center for treatment. Her injuries were said to be serious. A current medical condition was not reported. The Sun Sentinel reports that no one else who had been inside the Land Rover was seriously injured. The report did not say how many people were in this vehicle. 

The report says that two adults and two children were riding in the second vehicle, and all four sustained injuries. They were taken to a local hospital for treatment. The Sun Sentinel says that the two children sustained serious injuries. Their ages were not reported, nor were current medical conditions. No one from the wreck was identified. 

Florida Highway Patrol is handling the investigation of the crash. Troopers had not released information on the cause of the accident or the nature of the collision at the time that the report from the Sun Sentinel was posted online.
