FedEx Truck Crashes into Tractor-Trailer on I-75 in Ocala, Florida

August 12, 2019

OCALA, FL. – According to a news report posted online at, a FedEx truck crashed into a tractor-trailer on Interstate 75 in Ocala, Florida. Authorities, who are still looking into the case, say the FedEx driver somehow lost control of the truck. Luckily, no one was reportedly injured in the accident.*

The collision happened in the morning by West State Road 40 on the northbound side of I-75. Florida Highway Patrol and the Ocala StarBanner report that at about 7:30 a.m., a FedEx truck hauling two trailers was traveling north in the right lane of the interstate. Near mile marker 352, the driver somehow lost control of the vehicle, and the back trailer struck another tractor-trailer that had been traveling north in the right lane.

After the impact, the FedEx truck jackknifed and ended up crashing into a guardrail. It is not clear where the other tractor-trailer came to a rest. Troopers said that weather was slightly rainy at the time, but they did not indicate if this was the cause of the accident or a factor in the accident. The events leading to the collision are not completely clear.

The Ocala StarBanner says that both drivers, neither of whom was identified, were not injured in the accident. No other injuries were reported, either. The report said that the two trailers on the FedEx truck were empty, and the driver reportedly told authorities that he was on his way from Orlando to Ocala to drop off the truck. The other tractor-trailer was loaded with soda, but it is unclear if the cargo was damaged in the wreck.

Florida Highway Patrol Troopers reportedly cited the driver of the FedEx truck for careless driving. The collision resulted in a closure of all of I-75 North. The report says the interstate was closed about two hours.
