Two-Crash Crash Causes Fatality on S.R. 7 in Lauderhill, Florida

LAUDERHILL, FL. – According to a news report posted online at, a two-car crash that happened on State Road 7 in Lauderhill, Florida, caused a fatality. The Lauderhill Police Department is investigating, and it appears that the accident occurred because of a failure to yield during a left turn.*

The accident happened overnight at the intersection of Northwest 21st Street and State Road 7. The Lauderhill Police Department and the Sun Sentinel report that around 2 a.m., a car was traveling south on State Road 7, while another car was traveling north on the highway. The makes and models of the two cars were not included in the news report. 

Police officers say that at the intersection with Northwest 21st Street, the northbound car attempted to turn left and pulled into the path of the southbound car. The two vehicles then collided, and the southbound car crashed into a utility pole. Authorities say that the driver of the other vehicle briefly stopped, then left the scene. Officers report that this driver then returned to the scene about 30 minutes after the crash.

When emergency responders arrived, the driver of the first car was not responsive. The Sun Sentinel reports that officials tragically pronounced her dead at the scene. She was not identified in the news report, and it appears that she was the only person inside her vehicle. 

The driver of the second car spoke to authorities after returning to the scene. It is not clear if he was injured or if anyone had been riding with him. He was also not identified in the report. 

Following the accident, authorities closed down State Road 7 from 24th Street to 19th Street. During this time, traffic homicide investigators were at the scene, mapping out the accident and speaking to witnesses. Investigation is ongoing.
