Pedestrian Accident Reported on Stone Mountain Lithonia Rd. in DeKalb County, Georgia

DEKALB COUNTY, GA. – According to a news report posted online at, a pedestrian accident was reported to have happened on Stone Mountain Lithonia Road in DeKalb County, Georgia. The victim has not been identified at this time, nor has the driver of the vehicle involved in the collision.* 

The accident occurred early in the morning near Southland Drive on Stone Mountain Lithonia Road. The specific site of the collision is not known. The DeKalb County Police Department and Fox 5 report that emergency services received a call regarding a pedestrian crash at about 6 a.m. The caller reported that he was the person who hit the pedestrian. 

Based on initial investigation, it appears the pedestrian walked into the roadway, and a vehicle ran into him or her. It is not clear if the pedestrian was walking parallel to the road or was attempting to cross the road. The driver of the vehicle said that the pedestrian “darted” into his driving lane, but authorities did not confirm this information. The make and model of the vehicle were not reported. 

Fox 5 reports that the pedestrian was injured in the accident and transported to nearby hospital. The pedestrian’s identifying information was not included in the news report. His or her injuries are said to be critical. The victim’s current medical condition was not available. 

The driver of the vehicle was also not identified in the news report. Authorities did not say whether he was injured or if any passengers were with him in the vehicle at the time of the crash. 

The DeKalb County Police Department is still in the midst of investigating the crash. At the time of the Fox 5 report’s publishing, no further information had been released. It is not clear if authorities think charges will be pursued in the case.
