Two Tragically Killed in Vehicle Crash on Hwy 42 Near Jackson, Georgia

August 09, 2019

JACKSON, GA. – According to a news reported published online at jacksonprogress-argus.com, two people were tragically killed in a vehicle crash that happened on Georgia Highway 42 near Jackson, Georgia. The victims have not been identified, and Georgia State Patrol is investigating to determine what led to the crash.*

The collision took place in the evening by the Fresh Air Bar-B-Que restaurant on Highway 42. Georgia Highway Patrol and the Jackson Progress-Argus report that at approximately 6:30 p.m., a sedan of unknown make and model was traveling south on the highway. At the same time, a pickup truck of unknown make and model was traveling north on the highway.

Troopers say that front of the restaurant, the sedan crossed over the centerline of the roadway and entered the northbound lanes. It then crashed into the pickup truck. The cause of the accident has not been officially determined, but investigators think that the driver of the sedan might have swerved to avoid hitting another vehicle that was waiting to turn left into the restaurant parking lot from Highway 42 South.

The Jackson Progress-Argus reports that the driver of the sedan was tragically killed in the accident. This person was identified only as a female. In addition, the Jackson Progress-Argus reports that a passenger in the front seat of the pickup also tragically died in the accident. This person was also identified only as a female.

The news report further states that the driver of the pickup truck, who was identified as a male, sustained injuries in the accident and was taken to a local hospital for treatment. He is reportedly in stable condition at the hospital. No other injuries were reported.

Georgia State Patrol Troopers are still completing their investigation of the wreck. They reportedly believe that speeding might have contributed to the collision.
