August 06, 2019

RALEIGH, NC. – According to an online news story reported at wral.com, a traffic collision that happened on Fayetteville Road in Raleigh, North Carolina, left a motorcyclist with multiple injuries. The Raleigh Police Department is investigating the wreck, and officers reportedly described the accident as a failure-to-yield situation at an intersection.*

The accident occurred at the intersection of Maxwell Drive and Fayetteville Road. The Raleigh Police Department and WRAL report that a motorcycle was traveling toward Raleigh on Fayetteville Road. At the crossing with Maxwell Drive, the motorcyclist attempted to make a left turn, and police officers say a van traveling south on Fayetteville Road failed to yield the right-of-way to the motorcyclist.

The two vehicles ended up colliding at the intersection. The makes and models for the van and the motorcycle were not reported in the news story. It is not clear what led to the crash or why the driver of the van did not yield. It does not appear that police released information regarding the events surrounding the crash.

WRAL reports that the motorcyclist sustained injuries including a broken pelvis, broken right femur, broken right tibia, and broken right fibula. Emergency crews took him to WakeMed Hospital for treatment, where an updated condition was not released. He was identified as a 25-year-old man from Clayton, North Carolina. It does not appear that anyone else had been riding on the motorcycle at the time of the accident.

The driver of the van was identified as an 84-year-old woman from Garner, North Carolina. It is not clear how many people were riding in the van, but WRAL says that no one from the van was injured. WRAL also states that the van driver was charged with failure to yield. No further information regarding the accident was included in the WRAL news report.
