Fatal Left-Turn Accident Reported on East Brainerd Rd. in Chattanooga, Tennessee

CHATTANOOGA, TN. – According to an online news report posted at, a fatal left-turn accident occurred on East Brainerd Road in Chattanooga, Tennessee. A woman was tragically killed in the accident, according to the news report, and authorities are investigating the case to determine the cause of the collision.* 

The collision happened in the late afternoon at the intersection of East Brainerd Road and Hickory Valley Road. The Chattanooga Police Department and WRCB report that at about 4 p.m., a car was traveling east on East Brainerd, and the driver attempted to make a left turn at the intersection with Hickory Valley. Upon starting the turn, the car collided with a vehicle that had been traveling west on Brainerd. The makes and models of the two vehicles were not reported in the story.

Police officers reported that the westbound vehicle had a green light at the intersection. It appears the eastbound car might have crossed into the path of the westbound vehicle, but police did not make any statements about which driver was at fault. Officers did not say what circumstances or factors might have led to the collision. 

WRCB reports that a passenger in the eastbound car was injured and transported to a local hospital, where she tragically died from her injuries. She was identified as a 95-year-old woman. 

It is not clear if the driver of the eastbound car, who was identified as a 91-year-old woman, was injured. It is also unclear if the driver of the westbound vehicle, who was identified as a 21-year-old man, was injured. The news story states that no other injuries were reported, however.

Police officers are still investigating this accident, and at the time of the WRCB report’s publishing, they had not released additional information. It is not clear if charges will be filed.
