Motorcyclist Injured in Traffic Collision on C.R. 486 in Citrus County, Florida

CITRUS COUNTY, FL. – According to a news story reported online at, a motorcyclist was injured in a traffic collision that occurred on County Road 486 in Citrus County, Florida. It appears the accident involved a rear-end crash, and Florida Highway Patrol is managing the case investigation.* 

The accident occurred during the late evening close to Citrus Hills Boulevard on County Road 486. Florida Highway Patrol and the Citrus County Chronicle report that around 9:30 p.m., a 2009 Honda motorcycle (model not reported) was traveling west on the roadway and ended up running into the back of a 2005 Lincoln Aviator. Troopers say that the Lincoln had reduced its speed because of traffic ahead. 

It is not clear at this time what led to the collision, but Florida Highway Patrol Troopers stated that the motorcyclist was operating the bike in a careless manner. The news report did not specify how the motorcyclist was careless and does not say what factors were involved in the accident. 

The Citrus County Chronicle reports that the motorcyclist was ejected from the bike during the crash and sustained injuries. He was identified as a 32-year-old man from Beverly Hills, Florida. Emergency responders reportedly took him to Ocala Regional Medical Hospital for treatment, where his current condition was not reported. 

In addition, the Citrus County Chronicle reports that a passenger on the motorcycle was also ejected during impact and landed on the roof of the Lincoln. The passenger was identified as a 44-year-old resident of Zephyrhills, Florida. It is not clear if the passenger sustained injuries.

The driver of the Lincoln was identified as a 28-year-old man from Beverly Hills. The report does not say whether he was injured or if anyone else was riding in the Lincoln. No additional information about the accident was included in the report.
