Vehicle Wreck Occurs on I-75 in Macon, Georgia

August 05, 2019

MACON, GA. – According to a news story posted online at, a vehicle wreck occurred on Interstate 75 in Macon, Georgia. The wreck reportedly led to traffic delays on the interstate, but little information about the circumstances of the accident was included in the news report. Authorities are in the process of investigating.*

The accident happened late in the afternoon near the exit to Bass Road on the northbound side of I-75. WGXA reports that emergency responders went to the location on a report about a vehicle wreck and found that one vehicle had traveled into the median and came to a stop in the ditch.

The make and model of the vehicle were not reported, but photos taken at the scene of the crash and posted to the WGXA website show that it was a red car. It appears to be a kind of four-door sedan. Other photos from the scene depict an ambulance and a firetruck on the site. No other vehicles were pictured, so it is not clear if more than one vehicle was involved in the accident.

Crews with Macon-Bibb Fire responded, along with paramedics, but it is not clear whether anyone was injured in the accident. The report did not say how many people were involved in the collision in total.

At least one lane on I-75 North was blocked after the accident, and traffic backed up during this time. WGXA notes that the wreck happened after heavy storms had moved through the area, but it is not known if weather contributed to the accident.

The official cause of the accident was not reported, nor were any factors that authorities might be investigating as potentially contributing to the crash. Investigation is ongoing, though it is unclear which law enforcement agency will be in charge of the case.
