One Injured in Tractor-Trailer Crash on Morehead Rd. in Charlotte, North Carolina

CHARLOTTE, NC. – According to an online news report posted at, one person was injured in a tractor-trailer crash that happened on Morehead Road in Charlotte, North Carolina. Limited information has been made available to the public regarding the accident at this time, and authorities are still reviewing the circumstances of the crash.*

The collision happened in the 3300 block of Morehead Road. The Charlotte Fire Department and WCNC report that emergency crews were called to the site on a call about a vehicle wreck. Multiple vehicles were reportedly involved in the accident, but only a tractor-trailer was described in the report. It is unclear how many other vehicles were involved or what types of vehicles collided. 

When officials arrived at the scene, they discovered that the tractor-trailer had overturned. It is unclear what events transpired prior to the crash or how all of the vehicles became involved. The report did not say what type of cargo the tractor-trailer was hauling when the accident happened, but the report stated that a Hazmat unit was called to the scene to assist, seemingly indicating that hazardous materials were involved.

WCNC reports that one person involved in the wreck was injured and taken to a local hospital for treatment. This person was not identified, and it’s not clear if he or she was in the tractor-trailer or another vehicle. The person’s injuries were said to be serious. No other injuries were reported, and no one else from the wreck was identified.

Following the accident, the Charlotte Fire Department posted a message on social media, saying, “Traffic Advisory; [Multi-vehicle crash] with overturned Tractor-Trailer; 3300 block of Morehead Road; Station 35 area; Morehead Rd closed in both directions; hazmat units on scene along with [Concord Fire] and [Harrisburg Fire] assisting; significant delays in area; seek alternate routes.”
