Tragic, Fatal Pedestrian Collision Reported on Cottage Hill Rd. in Mobile, Alabama

MOBILE, AL. – According to an online news report posted at, a fatal pedestrian collision was reported on Cottage Hill Road in Mobile, Alabama. Fox 10 reports that the pedestrian tragically died in the accident, and the Mobile Police Department will be handling the case investigation. At this time, it is not clear if charges will be filed.* 

The accident happened in the late evening close to Raines Drive off of Cottage Hill Road. The Mobile Police Department and Fox 10 report that at about 9:30 p.m., officers were dispatched to the area on a call about a traffic collision. Police arrived at the scene to find that a man had been hit by a vehicle.

Fox 10 reports that the pedestrian was tragically killed in the accident. He was identified in the report as a 39-year-old man. His city of residence was not provided in the report. 

Officers indicated that the driver of the vehicle stopped after the accident and contacted authorities. The driver remained at the scene and spoke to police, the report says. No identifying information on the driver was released, and the make and model of his or her vehicle was not reported. It is unclear if the driver was the only person in the vehicle when the accident happened. 

Fox 10 states that the victim had just eaten dinner at a Waffle House restaurant near to where the accident occurred. Only about 20 minutes before the accident occurred, the man posted a photo to social media that showed his dinner. Employees at the restaurant said he often came there to eat. It is not clear where he was headed at the time the collision happened. 

A resident who lives across the street from the site of the accident said that it is a dangerous road to cross.
