Multiple-Vehicle Crash on I-74 in Vermillion County, Sends Four to the Hospital
VERMILLION COUNTY, IN – According to an online news report at mywabashvalley.com, four people were taken to an area hospital with serious injuries following a multiple-vehicle accident on Interstate 74.*
The Vermillion County Sheriff’s Office was notified of the crash. While police were investigating the accident, another vehicle accident occurred near mile marker 1 on Interstate 74.
According to the news report, a semi-tractor trailer truck that was driven by a 53-year-old man from Peoria, Illinois did not slow down for traffic and then crashed into several vehicles.
The 53-year-old trucker hit into a passenger vehicle driven by an 18-year-old from State Line, Indiana. The 18-year-old, a juvenile passenger and an infant passenger were all taken to an area hospital for the treatment of life-threatening injuries. The trucker also struck a pickup truck that was driven by a 44-year-old male from Union, Kentucky. The trucker then struck a third automobile which was driven by a 60-year-old woman from Indianapolis, Indiana. The woman was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. Lastly, the trucker into another 18-wheeler driven by a 59-year-old woman from Edgewater, Florida.
There are no further details on the accident at this time. The crash remains under investigation by the local police.
