Tractor-Trailer Accident Reported on I-75 in Ocala, Florida

OCALA, FL. – According to a news report published online at, a tractor-trailer accident was reported on Interstate 75 in Ocala, Florida. The cause of the accident is still not known, but authorities reportedly cited the driver of the tractor-trailer in connection with the collision.* 

The collision took place late in the afternoon by mile marker 354 on the northbound side of I-75. Florida Highway Patrol and report that shortly before 3 p.m., a tractor-trailer was traveling north on the interstate and somehow jackknifed. It is not clear at this time what caused the trailer to jackknife, but it appears the driver lost control of the vehicle for some reason.

The tractor-trailer then crashed into the guardrail in the median of the interstate. Troopers say that the accident happened as the tractor-trailer was traveling toward the top of a hill, but they did not indicate why the driver ended up losing control of the rig. Authorities reported that the crash resulted in a diesel fuel spill and a significant amount of debris. identifies the driver of the tractor-trailer as a 46-year-old man from Decatur, Alabama, and the news story states that he was not injured during the accident. The report does not indicate whether any passengers were in the tractor-trailer when the collision occurred. It is not clear what commercial carrier the driver and the truck were affiliated with, if any. 

After the collision, crews shut down all of the northbound lanes on I-75 by the site of the accident. During this time, crews worked to clear the debris and clean up the fuel spill. Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the crash, and Troopers reported that the driver of the tractor-trailer had been cited for careless driving. No additional information about the crash was provided in the report online.
