PSTA Bus Crash on 34th Street in St. Petersburg, Florida, Results in Injuries

ST. PETERSBURG, FL. – According to an online news report posted at, a PSTA bus was involved in a crash on 34th Street in St. Petersburg, Florida. The crash reportedly resulted in injuries, though details about the number and extent of injuries were not immediately reported. The St. Petersburg Police Department is investigating the accident and has released limited information so far.* 

The accident happened during the late afternoon in the area of 26th Avenue North and 34th Street in St. Petersburg. The St. Petersburg Police Department and WFLA report that sometime before 4 p.m., a PSTA was involved in a traffic collision. It is not clear if the bus was the only vehicle involved or if another vehicle collided with the bus. 

The circumstances of the accident were not immediately reported by authorities. The report did not indicate what factors might have been involved in the incident or whether a traffic violation might have occurred prior to the crash. It appears that the crash happened on the southbound side of the road.

The news report did not indicate how many people were on the bus at the time or how many people in total were involved in the accident. WFLA says, however, that several people were injured. The exact number of injuries was not known. The report indicated that police officers believed all of the injuries were minor, but that information was not confirmed. None of the injured persons was identified. 

It is unclear if the driver of the bus was among those injured. The driver was not identified in the report, either. No statement from PSTA was included in the report. 

Following the collision, the south lanes of 34th Street were shut down from 22nd Avenue North to 26th Avenue North. The St. Petersburg Police Department is still investigating the accident.
