Victim Airlifted After Scooter Crash on Ponce de Leon Blvd. in St. Augustine, Florida

ST. AUGUSTINE, FL. – According to an online news report posted at, a victim was airlifted to a hospital after a scooter crash that happened on Ponce de Leon Boulevard in St. Augustine, Florida. The scooter reportedly collided with a vehicle, causing serious injuries to one person. Local police are investigating the wreck.* 

The accident took place in the late morning close to Hope Street on Ponce de Leon Boulevard. The St. Augustine Police Department and News 4 Jax report that at about 10 a.m., a scooter and a passenger vehicle somehow collided in the area. The passenger vehicle was not described in the report, so it is not clear what type of vehicle it was. It is also not clear if the scooter was an electric dockless scooter or a moped-style of scooter.

The circumstances surrounding and leading up to the accident were not reported. It is unclear what direction the two vehicles had been traveling or how they ended up crashing into each other. Police officers did not say whether one of the drivers was at fault. 

News 4 Jax reports that one person involved in the accident was injured, and emergency responders summoned a medical helicopter to take this person to Orange Park Medical Center for treatment. The person was not identified, and the report did not say whether he or she was on the scooter or inside the other vehicle. His or her injuries were said to be serious. No one else involved in the accident was identified, and no additional injuries were reported.  

The accident resulted in brief closure of one southbound lane on Ponce de Leon Boulevard while crews investigated. The St. Augustine Police Department is still investigating the case, and officers had not released additional information at the time of the News 4 Jax report’s posting.
