July 27, 2019

HARRIS COUNTY, GA. – According to an online news report posted at, a construction zone accident that occurred in Harris County, Georgia, tragically killed one person. The Harris County Sheriff’s Office is investigating and is working to determine what caused the accident, which happened in a highway workzone.*

The accident happened during the rush hour on Georgia Highway 219. The stretch of Ga. 219, also known as River Road, is currently under construction by the Georgia Department of Transportation to install passing lanes on the roadway. Authorities and WLTZ say that a vehicle was traveling down the highway and passing other vehicles in the construction zone.

The report indicates that the driver was crossing into opposite-bound traffic to pass, including in areas where the centerline is double yellow, indicating that passing is not allowed.
