One Person Tragically Killed in Pedestrian Accident on Ogeechee Rd. in Chatham County, Georgia

CHATHAM COUNTY, GA. – According to a news report published online at, one person was tragically killed in a pedestrian accident that occurred in Ogeechee Road in Chatham County, Georgia. Several law enforcement agencies responded to the scene of the accident, and Georgia State Patrol will be taking the lead on the accident investigation.* 

The accident happened early in the morning close to Dean Forest Road on Ogeechee Road. Georgia State Patrol and WSAV report that a pedestrian was walking southbound on Ogeechee Road and was struck by a vehicle. It is not clear what direction the vehicle was traveling or what type of vehicle it was, as the report describes it only as a car. 

The report does not say whether the pedestrian was walking in a lane of travel on the roadway or whether he or she was walking on the side of the road. Authorities did not release information regarding what caused the accident or which person had the right-of-way at the time of the collision.

WSAV reports that the pedestrian sustained fatal injuries from the crash and tragically died at the scene. The victim’s identifying information was not included in the news report. The driver of the car was also not identified. WSAV reports that the driver was not injured in the accident. It is not clear if the driver was the sole occupant of the vehicle. 

The news report states that the accident happened at the border of Chatham County and Garden City, so both the Chatham County Police Department and the Garden City Police Department responded to the site of the collision. However, Georgia State Patrol is managing the investigation of the crash, according to the report. At the time of the report’s posting, Troopers had not provided information regarding the possibility of charges in the case.
