Ambulance Crashes, Overturns on Thomas Street in Florence County, South Carolina
FLORENCE COUNTY, SC. – According to an online news story reported at wbtw.com, an ambulance crashed and overturned on Thomas Street in Florence County, South Carolina. The news story says that the ambulance was on its way to a call response, when it collided with another vehicle at an intersection.*
The accident occurred in the evening at the crossing of Thomas Street and Ron McNair Boulevard in Florence County. Authorities and WBTW report that at about 7:30 p.m., an ambulance with Floyd County Emergency Medical Services was on its way to the site of a motorcycle accident in the area of Lake City, South Carolina. The details of the motorcycle accident were not included in the report.
On its way to the accident scene, officials say that the ambulance somehow collided with another vehicle at Thomas and Ron McNair. The other vehicle was described as a passenger vehicle. Photos taken at the scene and published on the WBTW website show that the vehicle was a black Toyota car. The photos also show that the ambulance turned over onto its driver’s side after the impact. The ambulance had damage to the front, while the car had damage to the passenger’s side.
The news report did not say how the accident happened. It is unclear if the ambulance was traveling with its lights on and sirens activated. WBTW states that four people involved in the accident were injured and taken to local hospitals for treatment. Two paramedics were among those injured.
Officials said that the paramedics and one person from the car had non-life threatening injuries. A second person from the car had serious injuries, according to the report, which were thought to possibly be life-threatening. No one involved in the crash was identified.
