Driver Hits Pedestrian, Leaves Scene on Beaver Ruin Rd. in Gwinnett County, Georgia

GWINNETT COUNTY, GA. – According to a news report posted online at, a driver hit a pedestrian and then left the scene on Beaver Ruin Road in Gwinnett County, Georgia. The pedestrian was tragically killed. Police officers are attempting to locate the driver and the vehicle, and they are asking for help from the public.* 

The accident took place late in the evening in the 1300 block of Beaver Ruin Road. This is located by Norcross, Georgia, in Gwinnett County. Shortly before midnight, police officers received a call about a person lying in the roadway. The Gwinnett County Police Department responded and found that a pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle. The vehicle and driver were not at the scene when police arrived.

Police were able to determine that the pedestrian was trying to cross the street when the vehicle hit him. 11 Alive reports that the pedestrian was seriously injured from the wreck and transported to a local hospital, where he tragically died. Officials identified him as a 38-year-old man from Norcross. 

The driver who hit the victim did not contact authorities before fleeing the scene, officers said. Investigators gathered evidence from the scene and were able to tell that the vehicle involved in the collision was likely a Nissan Sentra manufactured from 2013 to 2015. Officers were unsure about the color of the vehicle but said it was missing its front grille and probably had damage to the fender, the hood, and the windshield. 

A description of the driver was not reported. Officers are asking anyone who has information about the accident or the suspect to call the Accident Information Unit at (678) 442-5653. Persons with information can remain anonymous by calling Crime Stoppers at (404) 577-TIPS. People who provide information leading to an arrest could receive a cash reward.
