Truck Crashes into Motorcycle on Thomas Dr. in Panama City, Florida
PANAMA CITY, FL. – According to a news report posted online at newsherald.com, a pickup truck crashed into a motorcycle on Thomas Drive in Panama City, Florida. The motorcyclist was seriously injured in the accident, according to the news report. Florida Highway Patrol is handling investigation of the wreck and has not released information about potential charges.*
The accident happened late in the evening in the 8700 block of Thomas Drive. Florida Highway Patrol and the Panama City News Herald report that at around 9:45 p.m., a 2015 Nissan Frontier pickup truck crashed into a motorcycle of unknown make and model outside of 8711 Thomas. Following the impact, the Nissan struck a fence, and the motorcycle traveled off the roadway and overturned.
The events leading to the collision were not fully described in the report, but Troopers were reported to have said that the driver of the Nissan truck did not yield to the motorcycle. The report indicated that the truck attempted to cross the roadway and drove into the path of the motorcycle. Troopers reported that alcohol did not appear to have been a factor in the crash.
The Panama City News Herald reports that the motorcyclist was injured in the accident and taken to a hospital for treatment. He was identified as a 48-year-old man from Dothan. His injuries were described as critical. It does not appear any passengers were on the bike at the time of the accident.
The Panama City New Herald further reports that the driver of the Nissan was not injured in the wreck, and a passenger in the Nissan was not injured, either. The driver was identified as a 27-year-old man from Panama City. The passenger was not identified in the report.
