Vehicle Crash on Shinn Rd. in St. Lucie County, Florida, Tragically Kills Driver
ST. LUCIE COUNTY, FL. – According to a news story reported online at wptv.com, a vehicle crash that happened on Shinn Road in St. Lucie County, Florida, caused the tragic death of one of the drivers. Several other people were also injured in the accident, according to the news report, and Florida Highway Patrol is working to investigate the case.*
The collision happened in the afternoon at the crossing of Shinn Road with Okeechobee Road. Florida Highway Patrol and WPTV report that at about 2:15 p.m., a 1979 Chevrolet C-10 truck was traveling east on Shinn Road. At the same time, a 2006 GMC Sierra was traveling south on Okeechobee Road.
According to Troopers, the driver of the GMC started to cross Shinn Road at the intersection of the two streets, and the GMC ended up crashing into the Chevy pickup. Troopers said that the driver of the GMC did not see the Chevy. It is not clear why the driver did not see the truck or what other events might have been involved in the accident.
WPTV reports that the driver of the Chevy was fatally injured in the wreck and tragically died. He was identified as a 59-year-old man from Fort Pierce, Florida. In addition, WPTV states that two other people were riding in the Chevy at the time of the accident, and both were injured. They were not identified. WPTV described their injuries as minor.
WPTV further reports that four people were riding in the GMC, including the driver, and all four were injured in the crash. The driver was identified as a 28-year-old man. The other occupants of the GMC were not identified. The report said that three of the people had minor injuries, and one had serious injuries.
Troopers are still investigating the wreck and say that charges are pending.
