Deputy Tragically Killed in Vehicle Accident in Broward County, Florida

BROWARD COUNTY, FL. – According to an online news report from mycentraloregon.com, a sheriff’s deputy was tragically killed in a vehicle accident that happened in Broward County, Florida. The details of the accident have not been completely disclosed, and officials have not yet identified the deputy.* 

The accident happened in the early morning at an unknown location in Broward County. The Broward County Sheriff’s Office and mycentraloregon.com report that at approximately 3 a.m., a deputy with the Broward County Sheriff’s Office was called to the scene of a domestic dispute. The location of the dispute was not stated in the report, nor were any details about the dispute itself. 

Officials say that while the deputy was on the way to respond to the domestic call, his patrol vehicle somehow collided with a pickup truck. The make and model of the pickup truck were not reported. It is unclear how the crash occurred or where the crash occurred. No street name was provided in the report, and the events leading up to the collision were not described. The news report says that another deputy saw the crash and requested emergency assistance.

Mycentraloregon.com reports that the deputy involved in the crash was seriously injured and transported to a hospital, where he tragically died. The report says that he had been with the sheriff’s office for shortly longer than a year when the crash happened. Officials have not yet released his name to the media. 

The pickup driver, who was also not identified, sustained injuries in the wreck, according to mycentraloregon.com, and was taken to a hospital for treatment of those injuries. The news report states that he or she is in stable condition.  

The accident is under investigation, though the report did not say which law enforcement agency would be taking the lead on the case.
