Tow Truck Crash on Ronald Reagan Blvd. in Seminole County, Florida, Results in Fatality

SEMINOLE COUNTY, FL. – According to an online news report published at, a tow truck crash that happened on Ronald Reagan Boulevard in Seminole County, Florida, resulted in one fatality. Two other people also sustained injuries in the crash, according to the news report.* 

The accident took place in the evening in the area of State Road 417 and Ronald Reagan Boulevard. Florida Highway Patrol and the Orlando Sentinel report that around 6:30 p.m., a 1999 Subaru (model not reported) was headed eastbound on Ronald Reagan Boulevard, while a tow truck was coming toward the boulevard from State Road 417. Florida Highway Patrol Spokesperson Lt. Kim Montes said that the tow truck had a green light, while the Subaru had a red light.

At the intersection, the Subaru reportedly proceeded into the intersection on the red light, and the two vehicles ended up colliding. The front of the Subaru hit the driver’s side of the tow truck, according to authorities, and the Subaru turned over onto its side following the impact. It is unclear from early investigation why the driver of the Subaru did not stop at the traffic light. 

The news report states that one of the occupants of the Subaru was ejected from the vehicle during the crash, and he was taken to Central Florida Regional Hospital with serious injuries. The Orlando Sentinel reports that this person, identified as a 21-year-old man from Sanford, Florida, tragically died at the hospital. 

The Orlando Sentinel further reports that the second occupant of the Subaru also sustained serious injuries and was taken to the same hospital, where his current condition is not known. He was identified as a 27-year-old man from Orlando, Florida. 

The tow truck driver, identified as a 54-year-old man, was not seriously injured, according to Florida Highway Patrol. Investigation is ongoing.
