Two Injured in Vehicle Wreck on Florida Turnpike in Coconut Creek, Florida

COCONUT CREEK, FL. – According to an online news story reported at, two people were injured in a vehicle wreck that occurred on the Florida Turnpike in Coconut Creek, Florida. The circumstances of the wreck have not yet been reported, and Florida Highway Patrol will be investigating to determine how the collision occurred.*

The collision happened during the afternoon at the exit to Coconut Creek Parkway on the Florida Turnpike. WSVN reports that Florida Highway Patrol and several other agencies responded to the scene of an accident involving at least two vehicles at this site at approximately 2:30 p.m. The types of vehicles involved were not reported by authorities, but WSVN says that its news crew observed a four-door car and a landscaping truck on the scene, both with visible damage. It is unclear if more than two vehicles were involved. 

It is not clear what caused the crash or in what way the vehicles collided. No information regarding the events leading up to the collision or the circumstances surrounding the collision was reported. Florida Highway Patrol Troopers responding to the scene did not say what factors they might investigate as potential contributors to the wreck. 

WSVN reports that two people involved in the crash sustained injuries. The extent of their injuries is not known, but one of the victims was reportedly taken to Broward Health North by medical helicopter. The other injured person was reportedly taken by ambulance to Broward Health North. Neither person was identified, and it is not clear what vehicle each was riding in when the accident happened. Their current medical conditions were not available at the time of the report. 

The crash caused part of the turnpike to shut down while crews worked at the scene and cleared the wreckage. Traffic became backed up during this time.
