Driver Tragically Killed in Traffic Crash on S.R. 60 in Hillsborough County, Florida
HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, FL. – According to a news report posted online at tbreporter.com, a driver was tragically killed in a traffic crash that happened on State Road 60 in Hillsborough County, Florida. Florida Highway Patrol Troopers, who are managing investigation of the accident, say that the collision took place because a driver failed to stop for a red light at an intersection.*
The collision occurred during the morning at the intersection of Parsons Avenue and State Road 60. Florida Highway Patrol and the Tampa Bay Reporter state that around 7:30 a.m., a 2013 Honda Civic was traveling north on Parsons Avenue and attempted to turn left onto State Road 60. Troopers say that the Honda had a green arrow, indicating the driver had the right-of-way to make the turn.
Troopers indicate that’s when a 2005 Ford E250 van traveling east on State Road 60 failed to stop at a red traffic light at Parsons Avenue. The front of the Ford ended up crashing into the driver’s side of the Honda. Photos taken at the scene and posted to the Tampa Bay Reporter website show both vehicles with significant damage.
The Tampa Bay Reporter states that the driver of the Honda was tragically killed in the accident. Officials identified him as a 72-year-old man from Brandon, Florida. It is unclear if any passengers were in the Honda when the crash happened.
It is not clear if the driver of the Ford was injured. The Tampa Bay Reporter identified this driver as a 34-year-old man from Brandon. The report did not say whether any passengers were in the van at the time of the crash.
Florida Highway Patrol is still investigating the accident, and Troopers report that charges are pending. They did not say what the charges will be if charges are filed in the case.
