Troopers Looking for Hit-and-Run Vehicle in Williamsburg County, South Carolina
WILLIAMSBURG COUNTY, SC. – According to a news story reported online at abcnews4.com, South Carolina Highway Patrol Troopers are searching for a vehicle and driver involved in a hit-and-run accident in Williamsburg County, South Carolina. The collision occurred on North Williamsburg Highway, and a pedestrian was injured, according to the report.*
The accident happened in the early morning close to Janice Loop on N. Williamsburg Highway. South Carolina Highway Patrol and ABC 4 report that shortly before 6 a.m., a vehicle struck a pedestrian who was walking in the area. Following the accident, the driver of the vehicle fled the scene.
It appears the vehicle was traveling south, but it is not clear from the report where the pedestrian had been walking when the collision took place. The direction of the victim’s travel was not included in the news report. The report did not say if the pedestrian was attempting to cross the roadway or was inside of a crosswalk at the time of the accident.
ABC 4 reports that the pedestrian was injured in the collision. He or she was not identified in the news report. It is unclear how seriously the victim was injured in the accident or if he or she required transport to a medical facility for treatment.
Authorities are continuing to look for the driver and the vehicle involved in the accident. Troopers say that the vehicle involved in the collision was last seen heading southbound in the direction of Kingstree. Troopers did not describe the vehicle or suspect. The color of the vehicle and the make and model were not provided.
