Numerous Injuries Reported in Multi-Vehicle Crash on Hwy 701 in Horry County, South Carolina

HORRY COUNTY, SC. – According to a news story reported online at myrtlebeachonline.com, numerous injuries were reported following a multi-vehicle crash that occurred on Highway 701 in Horry County, South Carolina. The details of the accident are not yet completely clear, but authorities say that 10 people were injured in the crash. Investigation is still ongoing.* 

The accident happened in the morning in the 1700 block of North Highway 701. South Carolina Highway Patrol and Myrtle Beach Online report that at approximately 7:30 a.m., three vehicles were involved in a collision outside of a convenience store in the area. After impact, one of the vehicles ended up crashing into the convenience store, which is located at 1798 N. 701. 

The makes and models of the three vehicles involved in the crash were not provided in the report. A photo from the scene that was posted to the Myrtle Beach Online website shows that one of the vehicles was a silver or gray Ford Expedition. This was the vehicle that ran into the store, and it appears to have struck a change machine on the outside of the building. It is not clear if any damage to the structure or inside occurred. The other vehicles involved in the accident are not pictured.

Myrtle Beach Online reports that a total of 10 people were injured in the crash, based on information from Horry County Fire Rescue. None of the injured persons has been identified, and it is not clear what vehicles, if any, they were riding in when the crash happened. 

Myrtle Beach Online additionally reports that one of the injured persons was transported to a hospital via medical helicopter. This person’s injuries were said to be serious. The other nine people were taken to hospitals by ambulance, and their injuries were described as non-life threatening.
