Traffic Accident on Bolton Rd. in Atlanta, Georgia, Results in Two Fatalities
ATLANTA, GA. – According to a news report posted online at ajc.com, a traffic accident on Bolton Road in Atlanta, Georgia, resulted in several fatalities. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that two people were tragically killed in the crash, and one driver is facing multiple criminal charges in connection with the wreck.*
The accident took place in the late evening at the intersection of Bolton Road and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard in Atlanta. The Atlanta Police Department at the Atlanta Journal-Constitution report that at about 11:30 p.m., a Chevrolet SUV (model not reported) was headed westbound on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, approaching the crossing with Bolton Road.
At the intersection of the two streets, police officers say the driver of the Chevy did not stop for a red light, and the Chevy ended up crashing into a Toyota SUV (model not reported). It is not clear what direction the Toyota had been traveling prior to the crash. The Chevy driver lost control after the impact and traveled off the roadway, then crashed into a tree.
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that one passenger in the Chevy tragically died at the scene of the crash. The news report further states that a second passenger in the Chevy was ejected from the vehicle during the collision and transported to Grady Memorial Hospital, where he tragically died. Neither passenger was identified in the report. No one from the Toyota was seriously injured, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
The driver of the Chevy, who was identified as a 41-year-old man, was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and was taken into police custody upon being released from care. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution states that the Chevy driver has been charged with multiple crimes, including vehicular homicide in the first degree and driving under the influence.
