Bus Crash Reported on North Duval St. in Tallahassee, Florida; 13 People Injured

TALLAHASSEE, FL. – According to an online news reports posted at and, a bus crash was reported to have occurred on North Duval Street in Tallahassee, Florida. The crash reportedly caused injuries to 13 people. The seriousness of the injuries is not yet known, and authorities are investigating.* 

The accident happened in the evening at the intersection of West Georgia Street and North Duval Street. The Tallahassee Police Department and the Tallahassee Democrat report that at about 6:30 p.m., a car collided with a StarMetro bus at the crossing of the two streets. It is not clear what led to the collision.

The Tallahassee Democrat says that city officials obtained security footage that shows the car (make and model not reported) ran a stop sign at the intersection. Cynthia Barber, the Tallahassee deputy city manager, said that an investigation was taking place to determine what happened. It’s unclear how many people were on the bus. 

Officials confirmed that 13 people sustained injuries, according to both news reports. The extent of injuries was not reported, though the bus driver is said to have serious injuries, according to the Tallahassee Democrat. No one involved in the accident was identified.

“We are very thankful for the quick actions of our first responders and grateful that while some are serious, the injuries sustained were not worse,” Barber said. “In the coming days, we will continue to keep everyone involved in our thoughts and wish them a speedy recovery.” 

WCTV reports that following the accident, the Tallahassee Police Department posted a message to social media, saying, “TPD is working a crash involving a Star Metro bus in the area of North Duval Street and West Georgia Street. The intersection is closed. Please avoid the area while we investigate the crash and work to clear the roadway.”
