Five People Tragically Killed in Three-Vehicle Crash Near Victoria, Texas

VICTORIA, TX. – According to an online news report posted at, five people were tragically killed in a three-vehicle crash that happened near Victoria, Texas. The accident happened on U.S. Highway 59, and two children were among the victims who lost their lives in the collision, the news report says.* 

The accident took place in the late morning about five miles outside of Victoria on U.S. 59. The Department of Public Safety and NTD report that at approximately 11 a.m., a van that was traveling north on the highway somehow crashed into the back of a semi-truck. The semi was reportedly pulling a flatbed trailer, and the van crashed into the passenger’s side rear of the trailer.

Following impact, the van entered the southbound lane of the highway and crashed into a pickup truck that was headed south. It is not clear at this time what caused the initial collision. Authorities did not say what circumstances might have led to the accident or what factors they might be investigating as having contributed to the wreck. 

The makes and models of the three vehicles were not included in the report. Photos from the scene that have been posted to the NTD website show that the van was a large white passenger van. The van was damaged on all sides, particularly in the front. 

NTD reports 10 people were riding in the van, and five of those people, including a woman, two men, and two children, were tragically killed in the collision. Five other unidentified people in the van were injured, the report says. 

NTD further reports that the driver and passenger in the pickup, also unidentified, were seriously injured and taken to a hospital. They are said to be in stable condition. The driver of the semi, also not identified, was reportedly not injured.
