Woman Injured in Apparent Vehicle Accident on Duke Street in Durham, North Carolina

DURHAM, NC. – According to a news report posted online at, a woman was injured in an apparent vehicle accident that occurred on Duke Street in Durham, North Carolina. The events of the accident have not yet been established, and little information about the collision was included in the news report.* 

The accident happened in the early evening at the crossing of Duke Street with Englewood Avenue. The Durham Police Department and CBS 17 report that at about 5:30 p.m., authorities received a call about a vehicle collision taking place at the intersection. Officers were dispatched to the area and arrived to find a person injured and lying beside the road. 

Initially, officers were not sure how the person had been injured, but they concluded after investigation that she had sustained injuries in the traffic accident about which they had received an emergency call. It is not clear if any vehicles were at the scene or what transpired during the accident. No information about the accident itself was reported. 

CBS 17 said the person police found at the scene had a head injury and was taken to a local hospital for treatment. The person was identified only as a woman. Her age and residence were not included in the report. Police officers described her injuries as serious, but they did not think her injuries were life-threatening.

Police are still investigating the accident, and at the time the CBS 17 story was posted online, no further information had been reported. It is not clear if charges are anticipated in the case.
