Pedestrian Collision on 37th Street in Savannah, Georgia, Leads to Serious Injuries

SAVANNAH, GA. – According to an online news report posted at, a pedestrian collision that happened on 37th Street in Savannah, Georgia, led to serious injuries. The Savannah Police Department is still investigating the incident, and officers have not identified the driver of the car involved in the accident.* 

The collision occurred in the early morning at the intersection of Montgomery Street with 37th Street. The Savannah Police Department and the Georgia Sun report that at about 5:45 a.m., a pedestrian was attempting to cross 37th Street at the intersection and was hit by a Chevrolet Cruze that had been traveling west on the roadway. 

Police officers investigating the accident said that the pedestrian was walking against the traffic signal, meaning he had a “Don’t Walk” signal at the intersection. They did not say whether he was walking inside of a crosswalk, and the news report does not identify an official cause for the accident. 

The Georgia Sun reports that the pedestrian was injured in the crash, and emergency responders took him to a local hospital for treatment. He was identified in the report as a 36-year-old man from Savannah. His injuries were described as serious, but no current medical condition was reported. 

It is unclear if the driver of the Chevy sustained injuries or if there were any passengers in the car. The driver was not identified by officials. Savannah Police are still in the process of investigating the accident, and at the time of the Georgia Sun report’s publishing, no further details had been released.
