July 12, 2019

NASHVILLE, TN. – According to an online news report posted at, a two-vehicle crash was reported on Interstate 40 in Nashville, Tennessee. One person was reportedly trapped in a vehicle after the accident, but it is not clear how many people sustained injuries in the crash.*

The accident happened during the morning close to Spencer lane on I-40. Authorities and News Channel 5 report that two vehicles somehow collided on the interstate, after which one of the vehicles crashed into the guardrail on one side of the roadway. The makes and models of the vehicles were not reported, and it is not clear what direction each had been traveling.

A photo taken at the scene and posted to the website for News Channel 5 shows that one of the vehicles was a silver sedan, and the other was a gray sedan. The cars are stopped facing opposite directions in the shoulder of the interstate, and both have significant damage. The news report says that a section of the guardrail went through one of the cars.

News Channel 5 reports that one person was trapped following the accident, and emergency crews freed him from the vehicle. The report did not identify this person — or anyone else involved in the accident — but said he appeared to be conscious at the time. It is unclear if he or anyone else required transport to a hospital. Injury information was not reported.

The collision caused closures along the interstate and resulted in a traffic backup that stretched several miles. Authorities are still reviewing the accident, and no further information was included in the news story.
