Man Tragically Dies After Falling from Roof of Business in Nashville, Tennessee
NASHVILLE, TN. – According to an online news report posted at fox13memphis.com, a man tragically died after falling from the roof of a business in Nashville, Tennessee. The circumstances surrounding the accident have not been fully established at this time, and police are still in the process of investigating.*
The accident happened in the early evening at a business located in the 400 block of Broadway. The Nashville Police Department and Fox 13 state that at about 5:15 p.m., a man ran through the front door of Mellow Mushroom and proceeded up the stairs of the building, onto the roof. He did so by running past security, the report says.
The man then jumped down to the roof of AJ’s Good Time Bar, which is next door to the Mellow Mushroom. He continued walking across the rooftops of the line of businesses and attempted to leap from the rooftop of Ernest Tubb Record Shop to the roof of the Downtown Sporting Club, which is about a 14-foot drop. Police say he missed and fell about 50 feet down to the ground below.
Fox 13 Memphis reports that the man was transported by emergency responders to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, and he tragically died of his injuries. He was identified as a 22-year-old man from Tempe, Arizona. Officers said that he was alone at the time of the accident.
It is not clear at this time why the man was jumping from the rooftops or how he fell. Police said they were classifying the case as an accidental fall and were proceeding with investigation. No further details were released.
