Tragic, Fatal Single-Vehicle Wreck Reported on I-95 in Brevard County, Florida
BREVARD COUNTY, FL. – According to an online news report posted at floridatoday.com, a fatal vehicle wreck took place on Interstate 95 in Brevard County, Florida. The accident resulted in the tragic death of one person, and Florida Highway Patrol has not identified the victim or the cause of the crash.*
The accident occurred in the afternoon in south Brevard County on I-95. Florida Highway Patrol and Florida Today report that at approximately 1:30 p.m., a vehicle of unknown make and model was headed north on the interstate and somehow left the roadway near the area of Micco. The vehicle then crashed into several trees.
The news report did not indicate what might have caused the accident. Authorities responding to the scene did not provide information about the factors that might have led to the vehicle’s departure from the roadway. No details about the circumstances surrounding the collision were reported.
Florida Today reports that one person in the vehicle was tragically killed in the accident. He was reportedly trapped inside the vehicle after the crash and had to be freed by Brevard County Fire Rescue and Palm Bay Fire Rescue. Identifying information about the victim was not reported. It is not clear if he was a driver or a passenger, as the report did not say how many people were in the vehicle.
The crash caused the northbound lanes of I-95 to shut down until about 5 p.m. while crews cleared the scene and investigated. The accident is still under investigation by Florida Highway Patrol.
