Head-On Dump Truck Crash on Causeway in Tampa, Florida, Results in Fatality
TAMPA, FL. – According to a news report posted online at keysnews.com, a head-on dump truck crash that occurred on Courtney Campbell Causeway in Tampa, Florida, resulted in one fatality. At least one other person was also injured in the collision, which is still under investigation by the Tampa Police Department.*
The accident happened during the morning on a stretch of Courtney Campbell Causeway. No mile marker or cross street was provided to specify the location of the collision. Police officers and Keys News report that a dump truck was headed westbound on the road, when it suddenly swerved into the eastbound lanes of travel.
Thereafter, officers say the dump truck crashed head-on into another vehicle. The company affiliated with the dump truck was not named, and the make and model of the second vehicle were not reported. Police do not yet know what caused the driver of the dump truck to lose control and veer into opposite traffic. No potential factors involved were reported.
Keys News reports that the driver and passenger in the second vehicle were injured in the crash and transported to a local hospital, where the passenger tragically died. Neither person was identified, and the condition of the driver is not known.
The driver of the dump truck was not identified, and the news report says he or she was not seriously injured. The Tampa Police Department is still in the process of investigating the case, and at the time the Keys News report was posted online, no information about possible charges had been announced.
