Florida Couple Tragically Killed in Two-Vehicle Crash in Plainville, Massachusetts

PLAINVILLE, MA. – According to an online news report published at, a Florida couple was tragically killed in a two-vehicle crash that occurred in Plainville, Massachusetts. It appears the accident happened when one of the vehicles attempted to turn around on the roadway, according to the report.* 

The crash took place in the afternoon on Taunton Street in Plainville. The Plainville Police Department and WCVB report that a Ford Focus was traveling on Taunton Street, and the driver attempted to turn around on the roadway. The Focus then collided with a Ford van (model not reported) that had been traveling in the same direction behind the Focus. 

The news report did not indicate why the driver of the Focus attempted to turn around or why the driver started the maneuver with another vehicle behind. The events leading to and surrounding the accident have not been reported. 

WCVB reports that the driver of the Focus and a passenger in the Focus were seriously injured and taken to Sturdy Memorial Hospital and Rhode Island Hospital, respectively, and they both tragically died of their injuries. The driver was identified as an 86-year-old man from Florida, and the passenger was identified as a 93-year-old woman from Florida. The news report states that they were husband and wife. 

The driver of the Ford van was not identified. WCVB reports that he or she was transported to Rhode Island Hospital with injuries, and he or she was treated and released. The Plainville Police Department is still investigating the accident.
