A tragic motorcycle accident happened on a busy northwest Charlotte roadway that sent two motorcyclists to an area hospital. As a result, other motorcyclists are looking to raise awareness among drivers to exercise caution when driving with motorcyclists in the vicinity. Per authorities, the crash occurred close to the intersection of Sunset Road and Northpark Boulevard in the mid evening hours.
According to the motorcyclists, a black Lexus pulled into traffic and went over three lanes of traffic prior to hitting two motorcyclists. Both motorcyclists were taken to an area hospital where one sustained serious injuries and the other with life-threatening injuries.
“A blink of an eye and then crash," a fellow rider said. "To see your guys go up in the air — one shoe going this way, the bike going the other way, it’s just devastating." Another motorcyclist said that “crashes like this are nothing new to motorcyclists.” This individual noted that he has been riding a motorcycle for sixteen years. His brother lost his arm in a serious motorcycle accident back in 2008. "We like to ride our motorcycles, we don't cause trouble, but y'all got to see us like we see y'all," the motorcyclist said.
