Major Vehicle Crash Occurs on Hwy 170 in Beaufort County, South Carolina

BEAUFORT COUNTY, SC. – According to an online news story posted at, a major vehicle crash occurred on Highway 170 in Beaufort County, South Carolina. The accident resulted in two tragic deaths, including a woman and a child. Investigators reportedly suspect alcohol was involved.* 

The collision happened by Savannah Highway on Highway 170. It is not clear how many vehicles were involved, but at least two vehicles collided in the area, after which one of the vehicles overturned. The makes and models of the vehicles were not reported, nor was the nature of the collision. It is not clear how the vehicles came to collide or in what way they crashed. 

Live 5 reports that a woman who was driving one of the vehicles was tragically killed in the crash. She was not identified in the news report. In addition, Live 5 says that a child was in the car with the woman, and the child tragically died of his injuries following the accident. He was reportedly 7 years old. 

Live 5 further reports that the driver of the other vehicle, identified as a male, sustained serious injuries and is still hospitalized. Authorities reportedly developed reason to believe this driver was intoxicated at the time of the accident. The news report states that he has been charged with felony driving under the influence, and he could face more charges if he recovers from his injuries. 

Investigation into the accident is ongoing, and at the time of the Live 5 report’s publishing online, no additional information about the wreck had been provided by authorities.
